This car has been on my to do list for awhile... This WILL be the next project once the Ghia is up and running... Now that the Ghia has vacated the main garage, I finally had room to push the poor Beetle back inside. It was amazing how much water had collected in the centre tunnel while sitting outside for a few months...
See that extra windshield propped up in front of the cracked original? It was once installed in the world famous Gabriola Island Coffee Bug. I wish I had a picture of that to post... |

I used a can of Savannah Beige spray paint on a "project" today. The finish once clear coated was very shiny and I might have slipped and told Don I kind of like the colour after all... Although my kid stated "why would you want to paint your VW that boring colour???"

Although my kid stated "why would you want to paint your VW that boring colour???" And he was quite emphatic about that too! However, I must disagree with him because I think Savannah Beige is a great colour, especially with red upholstery(not a requirement, but pops nicely).  |

I did a custom Savannah Beige 68 once and turned it into storage for wood after a few years a buddy was looking for a beetle for a 4 wheel drive mid engine project so I gave it to him he did complete his project and sent me pictures so I can prove it this is the one he started with.  Terry |

He sent them in a embedded in an email I wasn't able to extract them I will try and find it to you and forward it to you maybe you can pull them out he sent pictures of the whole build the kid is skilled the build is scary it had chains and sprockets I had all the parts to put the car back together and I gave the rolling pan to another guys for a dune buggy build I'll go look for the email on on an old computer.

Found the emails lots of pictures from start to finish crazy good build 4 wheel drive buggy mid engine lots of travel in the swing arms trailing arms all hand built he was going to do outside roll cage but managed to get it inside pm me anyone and send you the build picture Volkstales you must see this I have figure out how to extract the pictures but there are too many to post. Thanks to Terry for sending me a bunch of pictures from this build. I couldn't figure out an easy way to extract them either, but the car is an amazing build with tons of great fabrication work. And powered by a V6 Honda!!!

No I haven't done anything on this project yet. But I did get my hands on a decent windshield for it which turned out to be an original VW version too. Thanks to Clay for this. Incidentally if you need any used VW parts, send Clay a message. He has LOTS of VW stuff!

No, nothing has been done to this project yet, but I am in the process of attempting to get this car properly registered in my name. I bought it on a bill of sale, as the previous owner had no paperwork either. And neither did the owner before that as both of them intended to turn it into an off-road buggy! It is not known exactly who the last registered owner actually was, so this one is going to be interesting...

Is that car still complete? I'd be tempted to just call it a survivor and get it road worthy, dare I say leave the patina and drive that one the way it is! But of course a full resto would be amazing. Ownership in the eyes of ICBC is a good place to start in the process.

HELP!! I'm doing a Savannah Beige project myself. It's a numbers correct 1967. I need a heat riser. Does anyone have one for sale, or know where I can get one? (It's for a 1500cc single port.).
