So, since my bus now is definately not a winter type vehicle, Ive been keeping my eye out for a winter beater. I did buy a 1995 GMC Safari, but found it not to my liking, so I sold it a month later. After scrolling thru multiple pages on the interweb, I found this .... A 1985 Pontiac Acadian Scooter ... Ooooooooh, the memories. I use to deliver pizza in a brand new one of these. 1600 cc's of pure power! Carburated!, with new front shocks, fairly new brakes, and new exhaust. This baby is mint! Only 100,000 kms. Owned by a lil ole lady who only drove it to church on sundays, lol. The rears were fairly new winters but the front ones needed replacing. It does have a viberation that im currently trying to figure out. Ive replaced the u-joints, and currently have drive shaft in at Thompsons getting balanced. I replaced all the rims and rubber for something more fitting to my style Ordered shocks for the rear, and am looking for a roof rack. Should be a fun car this winter If anyone has a rack like this, please let me know

That looks cool - I can't say I've ever noticed one before. The rims make a huge difference. I like the Beamer as well.

You can't drive a 'Vette with fancy wheels in the winter Now you can start saving for a Keiran wrap

The Euro Vauxhall Chevettes were a little more interesting... I spent many an hour in the old Acadians, as several of my friends owned them (or their parents), and my sister once owned a minty 1981 model with stripes similar to the above picture. It wasn't too minty after many trips on the logging roads from Gran Isle to Smithers, B.C... They actually were pretty good cars for their intended purpose, and the bodies easily outlasted the Japanese cars from their era...

Speaking of Japanese cars..... When did the "japanese" cars start being sold in Canada under N. American brands? I remember a Dodge Colt I looked at in Dawson Creek in the mid 80s as having a Mitsubishi engine I believe. Stan

There's a Chevy Shuvit Haynes manual in the automotive section of the North Town Centre Rotary book sale.
