Had a good day today going up to Merville for parts. Ray picked up 4 type 3 fenders, 2 for the 62 notch and 1 for his notch and a spare plus a few odds n ends. I grabbed a type 3 dash pad in great shape, no cracks and a fuel injetion wiring harness. And this is how crewwy and us got home...yowza. I will let Ray explain hahahaha

Well Crewvy had been running poorly since the Tuesday meeting. Thought it was points, but Russ re-set them after the meeting, and it seemed better. After spending yesterday in our shop, re-tightening carb and fuel pump bolts and checking for any other leaks, it seemed to run much better. We headed to Merville this morning and it ran fine all the way there and back to Bowser, where it just died. Soooo BCAA tow home and into the shop again. Turned out to be the new (Chinese) rotor, that was installed last summer, had simply gone bad. Put in an old stock rotor...and voila, it runs great again. Frustrating that you cannot trust new parts anymore. Otherwise, it was a great day as Rob explained with acquiring the early type 3 fenders and one early seat.

I was wondering how you made out with Crewvy. The garbage parts situation is becoming worse. At the shop we do not use Bosch points anymore and have not for some time. I have been not changing condensers unless absolutely necessary, and have been using old German used parts. Rotor failure is not something I have seen yet, but I guess that is a thing now too. Can't stand the cheapo Chinese nasty distributors, which so many VWs have ended up with and they are all trash. Everyone out there, hoard those original German parts to keep your vintage VWs on the road!!!
