Here is a picture of the 1966 purchased for 100.00 took two years to get my licence and then drove it to school . This car had the original patina and old school fender flares , can’t remember the maker ! Ha ha

Well lately i have been discovering Utube
Shows and movies and PEOPLE restoring or finding VWs in various states .ie the Vw restoration guys .
Watching the shows and pardon me for being older but somehow now feel these straw hat crowds have reinvented the VW scene. And I don’t like what i have seen .
I restored my 63 beetle mostly by myself getting advise from my brother who was a body man . I didn’t have the money to throw at my little car for almost 40 years but was very happy to fix the car keep it as stock as i could or just vintage speed updates .
For years parts were plenty full and cheep- still i could not afford the best .
I just feel now this new crowd has swooped in drove prices up and in part ruined the hobby. This is one reason i have until now not been apart of “ the scene " .. In Vancouver , there are groups (clicks ) and membership is limited according to who you are !
I find this funny that the peoples car is now being dominated by this .
If you know someone in the clubs the car you drive will be held high on the pedestal. Not judged on being an original car - surviving to today with out thousands of dollars being thrown at it . guess that's kinda what life is about ..... I use to work for the Government and the clawing over people kinda got to me .
Im Quite happy that this club has opened its arms to me as i have to them and like the thoughts and direction its going .
forward to this years shows and hope to participate in some .
But somehow find always just going back to basics with my two VW's , my way , in my garage .
