Your travelogue is the closest thing to being there, thanks for that. Yes, more people should go next time

Don asked why I would be holding an empty beer mug in that picture. Because I had actually won it for first place in class for early baywindow campers. I was quite surprised to hear my name called, given all the nice bays. I might have to fill the extra large mug with a special Crown Royal and coke with lots of ice... MMMM.
And the other thing I failed to mention was what happened at the ferry terminal coming back to the island. While sitting there waiting, I managed to lock my keys in the bus! The bus keys are on a separate ring from my regular keys, and there they were dangling from the ignition switch. Panic mode started, as the ferry was to begin boarding soon. I was thinking about what to break, when Don said to wait and he would find some coat hanger wire. He did much better then that and returned with a couple of guys who had a truck full of fencing materials, including LOTS of wire. This stuff was just long enough and stiff enough to reach through the cracked open driver's side window, to the passenger door latch. One quick tug, and Don got it open first shot. What a relief. Good thing I took the '72 on the trip instead of the '74. The later bus has different internal door lock mechanisms and the wire trick would not have worked. Glad things worked out!
We did miss the ferry anyway by a few vehicles. The parking lot was quite warm so naturally the Dodge truck owners had to fire them up and idle away to keep their A/C units running. There must be some sort of negative Karma for that sort of thing....
