And this is why the orange bus has been neglected. Drove the Dorper extensively over the summer. A very different feeling driving this bus. Much lower mileage means this one feels tighter then the orange bus. The less power and torque is painfully noticeable however...
Next up is Brent enjoying the comforts of his green bus. Those lawn chairs were quite comfy too. But wait, where is the mighty fuzzball???
There he is... Not sure if Goldberg is enjoying that leash. He is used to being a "freedom" dog, and was not able to try out everyone's bus as in previous years...
I seem to have misplaced my registration list... I know this is Byron's Westfalia and I think it is a 1970.
This is the first time I had a good look at his interior. Very nice it is...
The early Westfalia interiors are quite basic, but functional. Very clean and tidy. Bryron is considering repainting the bus to its original blue when the time comes.
A small group shot with the Beryl green '62 on the left, the naughty Pearl white '64 in the middle, and Mark's Old English White '71 Ghia on the right. It was good the weather improved, because it looked like it was going to pour in the early morning.
I drove the '64 a lot during the early part of the summer, but was disappointed that it was running hotter than it should. Have not figured out the exact cause yet, and have been ignoring it for awhile now...
Finally started driving this again after forking out for a six volt battery, brake work, and new reproduction tires. Still need to get a wheel alignment as well.
Mark had his Ghia out at the show. It got quite a bit of use this summer, as he drove it to Seattle with his Dad to the Vintage Meet.
This is where it would be nice if I could find my notes. This late '60's Bug was for sale for $4000? Had a decent paint job, and someone said it was sold...
And there is the poor old '69 Fasty. Still my daily driver, and will be for another 6 weeks. This car will get some TLC this winter...
And here is the famous High-Top Rob without his signature vehicle. He brought Reagh's Manx dune buggy and had his full winter gear on during the chilly morning drive. Buggy is actually based on a 1959 floorpan.
Gerry brought his 1955 sedan, and it was nice to see it out and about.
Hawthorne brought his '66 camper up from Victoria. It is well loved.
And of course Don brought up Laurie's '65 short split. Future plans are a custom made canvas for the back and apparently some old fashioned sign writing!
Continued...

Don's truck was also the table for the door prizes. Look at all that loot! And in case anyone cares, I ate exactly one of those Timbits, and had witnesses to prove it...
Reagh brought down his low mileage '68 Double cab. This VW is also getting a little bit of lovin soon as well. It will be documented as usual...
Since Tony no longer has his splitty, he is back to driving his Hawaiian look '61. Nice to see it back on the road again. Now about that Riviera...
Gord's '67 was looking a bit sinister. What is that thingy hanging off the window???
Looks like he swiped the swamp cooler off his wife's Beetle, and had it pinstriped so he would not have to give it back... Sneaky!
Dean brought out his extremely original '73 standard Beetle. Has been in his family since new and was fantastically maintained. He is thinking of downsizing, so if you want one of the best late model Beetles around, get in touch...
Here is Gord's wife's car (sorry, I am terrible with remembering names). A one time "demonstrator", this '62 still looks great today.
Another down island car is Don's '67 Notchback. Don recognized my '62 Beetle from when it attended Victoria Volkswagen club events well over 30 years ago! He stated it had around 42,000 miles on the odometer back then. Now only has 47,000 miles on it!
Here is Terry's mighty '65 Beetle. Glad he did not sell it after all. Terry also brought a few samples of his body/paint class projects. Nice work!
Mitch brought his radiant '67 as usual. These "big engine" guys seem to have a lot of fun with their VWs... A good thing I don't have speed issues...
Shawn brought his '62 out to the show. It was good to see that he got it out on the road and is enjoying it.
And Clay represented the Duncan area, with his '57, one of only two Ovals in attendance this year.
And now back to Brent's '79 AUTOMATIC bus. He put more effort into his camping display then most, and likely had the most fun too.
Looks just like home in there, and it was as Brent attended Camper Jam this year as well with his girlfriend (Tanya?) and dogfriend Goldberg...
Busaddict Tom's '74 was looking nice and shiny. Good to see a few faces up from Victoria.
The interior of Tom's bus. Wifey is kicking me off the computer now because it is her bedtime... More tomorrow...

Back to the next batch... This colourful bus showed up a bit later. Didn't get any details on it... I do know it is a '72 however, and looks like it has, or had a sunroof. One of two Doormobile topped buses at the show. This splitty belongs to Harley, and it is very clean. Early Westfalia interior is nice, too. Here is Mark H's, heavily modified '72 camper with full custom interior. Still looks clean which is amazing given how much time he lived in it... This '74 Westfalia was a nice surprise. It belongs to one of our customers, Dennis. He has owned this for many years and it is well looked after. This model has the less common interior with the full width bench seat/bed in the back. Chrome bumpers on a bay are not that common, either. A few more to come...

Dad showed up a bit later in the Ute. There are some VW parts on it too. Really... This Porsche replica showed up last year too. Do not have the owner's name. This later SuperBeetle showed up later as well. This late bus was in the Rona parking lot like last year. It really is a nice bus, and wish the owner would show it. I believe this '77 was from Victoria. I have not previously seen this one before. You just know I approved of that tire cover on the front. Liked the VW symbol on it as well. See, it was a fun time! See you next year!

Was thinking that yesterday as I drove past Rona. Guess we better start a new 2017 post and start promoting!
