Just did rear brakes on my 56 beetle the instruction that came with the wheel cylinders say to take them apart and apply Bremszylinder paste or ATE wheel cylinder grease I went online to see what people are doing and most just clean with brake fluid these instruction say clean with alcohol and apply the grease to rubber and stamps. Sounds like a good idea it is the stamps that seize in these cars before they ever leak. The parts store only sells a ceramic + Dielectric mix grease or disk setups I saw some online using the Dielectric grease on the rubbers Dielectric grease is a silicone I believe so it doesn't damage the rubbers and is waterproof and that is what I ended using what do you use? I have used brake grease internally on my own cars without incident. Russ I think you have to use the VW for there to be an incident!
