Hello all, I recently purchased a 1972 VW Super Beetle Convertible that needs some work. I haven't had a beetle for about 20 years when I previously owned a 1975 Beetle. This car is not and never will be a show car. I want it to be a beetle that I am going to drive. The P.O. did quite a bit of work on it over the past 4 years and it is close to being able to be driven regularly. The key work that needs done: - Convertible top needs the rear window put in. This is beyond my capability and I will be looking for someone experienced to do this for me. I would love recommendations if any of you have any
- The convertible top was installed by an amateur. Around the windows the doors and roof definitely do not align perfectly. Maybe the person that I find to do the rear window will also have the skills to make some adjustments with the top.
- It is going in to Bavarian Imports for an inspection in 10 days so we will see if they see anything drastic that I did not.
My mechanical skills are quite limited but I hope to be able to do much of the work myself. Unfortunately I can't upload a photo as it seams the forum has reached its max upload capacity. Trevor

Hi Trevor. You will have to link your pictures to the site. The forum picture storage reached maximum years ago. Many of us are using IMGUR as the picture host. It works very well and is free of charge. All of my pictures on this site are hosted there (well over 5000 so far...) This thread will help you understand how to do this: miacvw.proboards.com/thread/960/post-big-juicy-pictures-imgurIt may seem daunting at first, but gets very easy once you have done it a couple of times. And you can host unlimited pictures in this way... Give it a try. Just so you know, I work at Bavarian and will likely be the person who checks out your Beetle. Wonder if it is one that I have seen before???

We will see if this photo works. I am far better at computers then I am at beetle repair. Although I believe that I have successfully changed the transmission fluid and fixed the speedometer (i.e. installed missing clip) The story that I got on this beetle was that P.O. bought it about 4 years ago. He lived in Powell River but recently moved to Campbell River and now has no shop. Therefore he was looking to sell it before complete. His story was that it had sat for a while before that in the neighbours garage. He did some body work, one floor panel, paint, engine, some front end work, brakes and 75% of convertible top. Everything that he has done seams to have been done as a typical backyard mechanic may. But again, I don't need perfect. I am looking for reliable and safe (or as reliable and safe as a 50 year old vehicle can be). One thing missing from my list of what needs done is an oil leak that appears to be between transmission and engine. I am hoping that something just wasn't tightened down properly when he put it back together. And if not, I might get my first attempt at pulling a motor over the winter.
