Obviously, I have lousy bumpers that came with the car (did not pay extra for them). But I find that they rust real easy. They are the 60's type with the over-riders on them. Any idea on how to clean them well and stop the rusting? Is there a spray that I can put on them for protection?

Hi Ron. If they are lower end repro's, I doubt that you will have much luck. Some of the reproduction chrome parts have a really bad reputation for corroding. I stick with carnauba wax on my Ghia bumpers (rechromed originals) and it seems to do the trick. If you have the lower end repro's, I would suggest either trying to locate some good originals, or if you are feeling flush, consider some of the high quality reproductions available, such as from Wolfsburg West. I have heard nothing but good reports about their parts. www.wolfsburgwest.com/wolfsburg_new/bumpers/bug_bumper/bug_bumpers.cfm?type=1Alternatively, if you have really deep pockets you can get polished stainless steel. VW Heritage in the UK sell good quality parts. I would be surprised if their bumpers are anything less than perfect, but you pay for the privilege. www.vwheritage.com/shop/beetle/bumpers/blade-us-spec/
