Agreed. As we all are now aware, and as 1hotvw intimates, when people think VW Bus nowadays dollar signs appear in their eyes. With no apparent reality check, it can be a lot of work to keep theses babies running properly. It's come to the point, prematurely I think, that when some folks see an old rusty bus in a field they automatically think it's worth a lot of money no matter what the condition.

Why do they call it a riviera, when it clearly has a westfalia interior

Probably a bastardized interior. Those side windows are a defining feature of earlier Rivieras.

I have gone back to looking at that Bus time and time again. I showed my wife and told her that if I were to ever get a Split Bus, this is the one I would get becauseI love everything about it…and it isn't even blue! However, even if I sold everything at the prices in today's market, I still wouldn't have enough to buy it . No problem though, because I'd never be able to drive t for fear of getting it chipped anywhere or, heavens, DIRTY!! Sliding doors were early options (M code: M169) but I don't know how early. It sure looks cool with two windows in it. I am a sucker for different, have you noticed??

I saw a father and son with one of these last summer in Cowichan. The dad was so excited about it, so happy to be part of the VW community, we could have talked for ages...as one does. Here's another great adventure waiting to happen, maybe it will come down in price.
