First VW project in the garage in ten years, after a long list.
1959 Myers Manx full resto ( my first) - now resides in the fun bugs collection
62 flat Black lacquer single cab- from salt spring island onto California
1972 fast back 2.4L type 4 automatic- Sold Winnipeg
1962 rat look bettle “Lucky’s lavandería“ Logo’d -last seen in Victoria
1959 SO-23 westfalia rotisserie finished under side on in mango green 4 wheel 911 c2 turbo brakes 17 cup 1 wheels( sadly sold mid build due drastic life changes brought on by Duncan flood in 2009) ended up in Lanny Hussys shop after that no clue
1956 coral red Oval of paint - traded to John Main in cobble hill
1969 orange westfalia lowered on BRM’s sold to Coworker
plus a couple splits and bettles that got flipped along the way
now my latest with my 13 year old
1956 single cab, “Rust bucket“ Named The Golf Cart” by my boy. (I am a member of the golf course across the street from our house)
do need the typical metal replaced, truck was in Nanaimo for a bit has stunning natural patina on the truck.
Needed frame repair- half done small section on passenger side to do
Needed repair sections for A pillar, B pillar, dogleg, cab floor repair, long rocker, inner wheel well, cargo bed repair section outside 12”, back of wheel wells, out riggers and top rails to support cargo bed, rear corner, D Pilar repair That’s the drivers side, needs the same plus battery tray on passenger side.
got a set of real nice of paint logo’d doors for it, just struggling to get the door pins out as the hinges are cut.
got a 63 front beam for it, like to run the early king pin set up with later spindles for small snout drums in the front, better wheel choices.
thinking 17” wide 5 pattern. Going to be narrowed with drop spindles. In the rear straight axle set up.
looking for the following parts.
1500-1600 engine single port or dual. Prefer a single port 1600! Any condition
1968 swing axle drum to drum.
On a serious budget this time as the biggest focus is creating a special bond with my son and hopefully instilling in him a bit of work ethic.
” You don’t have yo be the smarted to succeed in life, you just need to work hard” feel like that is important lesson for him to learn.
I’ll try to get the kid to post pics, I don’t do social media for the most part
cheers,
Bill
