OK, I've got the wrong accordian heater hose for Betsy. The ones that fit (the old one) is 12 inches long and it fits on the new motor perfectly. The ones I bought are strange. They are 17 inches long but screw apart at 12 inches. However the shorter piece has the correct diameter flange to fit on the metal hot air valve etc. but when it's screwed off there is no way to connect the longer piece. Has anyone used 3" spiral steel hose covered with fiberglass hot water tank insulation covered with that shiny steel furnace tape? I've used that combination in a lot of circumstances and it's quite robust. Or does anyone have any used 12" accordian hose kicking around they're willing to trade for something? Stan

Still on the topic of attempting to unravel the mess behind the dash on this car, I can't get the heater cables to remain "fixed" in position to allow the levers to fully open and close the heater box valve at the back. From the picture I took it seems like the toothed fixture is supposed to hold the cable within the two rings so that it will not move when activated. The toothed fixture seems to need a matching half of the "fixture" to keep the cables held firmly. No? Stan

There are spring clips that secure the cables to that toothed holder thingy. Not sure if I have any spares of those.

Ok so as long as there's is something that is supposed to hold the cables to the toothed holder thingy I can figure out something to cobble up to do that. Some wire if nothing else more elegant comes to mind. I nixed the idea of using double bubble, well chewed of course. It takes much too long to harden into something useful. Although I used to find lots of it underneath my student's desks that would probably hold an A-Train trailer in line, at least for a little while. Thanks for the advice Russ. Stan
