I've started work on my Ghia and am looking for a few odds and ends. I'll update this thread as and when I find that I need bits. I'm looking for a left side bakelite heater tube, because mine has a big hole in it! This is the tube that mounts under the luggage compartment at the rear, similar to the below photo (Borrowed from thesamba.com). I understand that they are the same as the ones installed in 65 onwards Beetles. I am assuming that this is the broken part. I can see the damage under my rear seat and the pipe appears to have shattered. Apparently I may have to separate the body from the floorpan to fit this License plate light chrome strip. This is the chrome strip that runs around the light housing. I will probably need a light housing too, because I think that they're supposed to have a line of rectangular holes around the bottom to attach the strip to. My chrome is completely missing and there are no mounting holes in my light housing. I need a 68 onwards part and am looking for very good to mint condition. Photo borrowed from thesamba.com 2 speed wiper switch. Mine only works at the higher setting. The car is a 1971 model. Photo from the car's manual. The switch is in the top right of the page. Thank you. Willing to pay market value.

On your 1971, is the "chrome" on the license light housing actual chrome, or is it anodized aluminum. I know the '72 I parted out is aluminum and I think you can buy this part new. I might still have this part somewhere...

Not sure. I think that they were the same from 1968 onwards based on thesamba classifieds.

I will have a looky to see if I still have that part. With regards to the bakelite tubes, I do not remember seeing those on the '72 I parted. And I did pull off the remains of the body on that one. I don't have a good used wiper switch, as the '72 used the stalk on the column. I would bet the problem with your car is not the switch, but more likely an issue with the wiring to it...

I should have spares of the '71 switch, remind me once I'm home again. Will post up upon my return.

Thanks Gents.
You may be correct with the wiring. The wiring is a bit of a mess

Hey Mark, I do have the '72 Ghia license light assembly still here. The alloy trim is not in great condition though. You can still have it if you want. Also I need you to give me a call with regards to the carpet. Newton Commercial did e-mail me back and shared shipping will be cheaper... I would call you but can't remember where I wrote down you phone number...
