Struggling with a new isp wiring harness and having 2 different schematics…. Have 4 way flashers, headlights, engine turns over but with headlights on the dimmer relay doesn’t activate but turn headlights off and the relay activated by the switch …. Turn signals do not work either… who’s our electrical guru?? Car is located in Nanoose eh!

If you have the seven pin flasher relay, make sure the securing screw is tight. This is the relay ground, and will not work properly if not a GOOD ground. The dimmer relay sounds like something is hooked up wrong. Later VW's don't allow the headlights to work if the key is off, but this should not apply to a '68... What schematics are you using? Several to choose from on thesamba.com.

The flasher relay is 3 wire plus ground
I have the Mitchell schematic off of Samba
Also the other schematic from the Samba
When the hazard switch is pulled the flasher relay clicks away but no clicky clicky when signals are used when the hazard is off

Make sure there is power to the signal indicator bulbs when the key is on. I don't think the relay will energize unless power is there. It will click when the hazard switch is turned on due to using a different power source. Will the signal indicator flash when the hazard switch is on AND the key is on?
