Nice job, now get that mattress out in the hot sun for an afternoon. I put a few mothballs in my poptop when it's off the road to ward off any bugs. You can also put one or 2 of those moisture grabber things up there in winter to catch the wetness that can gather. Great idea! Thanks for the tip

Not a major project by any means, but I took advantage of the sun and FINALLY cleaned my pop top. It's been on the to do list for a long time (since I drove it home). I don't have any real before photos as I really didn't think it would clean up so well. The tools: mild dish soap, warm-ish water, elbow grease and one Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. Seriously those things are magical. Started with the luggage rack. Half done, as you can see. Done luggage rack. Then did the entire top! I also didn't take a before photo of the Magic Eraser...this is all that's left of it. Job well done, little guy. I noticed a while back that my luggage rack is missing a few screws (in the back). It's taken till now to take a photo. I do have plans to get the proper screws for it but I also have plans to take off the luggage rack and give it a clean underneath. I know this is probably a two person job (at least) but it isn't too difficult right? Any tips? I don't have to take out the headliner do I?

Nice going Claire! Check out what I faced under the luggage rack here: miacvw.proboards.com/thread/27/don-late-bay-latestCan't remember putting it back on(and pics in the thread on that are non existent, however I think access can be gained by pulling down the headliner temporarily.... but don't quote me. I had nothing to do with the roof on that Westy Tony! I never even looked at it because my focus was on a brand new engine!

Was on the cleaning warpath today and thought this pic might be useful. It shows the small head of the galvanized carriage type bolt head. The nut can be accessed by removing the 5 phillips headed screws that attach the forward headliner to the roof beam. Note here the pad that sits under the outboard edge of the fiberglass. I think there are rubber washers of similar thickness under the fiberglass at the bolt head too. Don't crank 'em too tight! Regarding the number of people required to remove the luggage rack, yes, two would be preferential. When reinstalling it I found that temporary supports under each side really help, that way the lowering of it can be managed in a slow exacting fashion.

Very helpful. Thank you, Don! I plan on taking a look at the buses at Volksfest as well for a bit of clarification.
Ps glad to see the moustache bus getting some love! I'm a big fan of that bus
