Someone may have an old one going spare. Basically any type, bench mount or otherwise.
Thanks
Alan

Decided to go with the Scat brand from Cip1. It looks more heavy duty than the cheaper one they sell. It should fit directly into a regular motor stand which Canadian Tire currently have on sale. Sorted.

My plan is to clean/detail my motor which (from what I've read) will not bolt directly onto a "regular" engine stand and allow room to work. I've seen people on the Samba build an adapter, but for $80 I figure the whole stand is only about $200 and will last the rest of my lifetime.
I plan to weld a nut on the top of the stand so I can lock it at any angle I want. The CT units must only be made on Mondays/Fridays in a poorly lit factory judging from how out of whack things are. I need to have my lightened flywheel re-ground (or replaced), new gland nut, install clutch, cooling tin, wash the dirt/oil off the case, paint, etc. Assuming the Mexican dp motor that's been sitting on the floor of my shop for nearly 20 years stays together once the buggy is done, it'll buy me time to go out and find a dp core to build a performance version...

I figured for the time involved and what Metal Supermarket charge for materials, plus a set of HD casters, paint, etc, $210 + taxes was a good price. I'd say it's worth the extra $20 over the generic stand for the Scat version as it not only fits most universal engine stands, it appears a better build quality/welding/power coated. I opted to weld a nut/bolt on the base for infinite rotation adjustments rather than the ill fitting pin.
