Show @ KMS Tools July 30th

Hi all, I will be going to the show @ KMS tools.
Here is a pic of the flyer. I was able to pre-register and hope to see some you there.

Today was the inaugural KMS tools show in Nanaimo.  Now I was unable to enter a vehicle in this, but did stop by for a very quick tour through...



 

Both Rob S. and Don entered their cars and managed to park together as well.





Don's mighty SAAB looked nice and shiny in the bright sun...





I liked the looks of this 1968 Camaro.  Hand over $58,000 and it could have been yours...





Not too many Valiants get the restoration treatment, but this one did.  And not a slant six for a change.





Lots of mods to this Cutlass.  These cars were VERY popular when new, but you do not see many today.  The frames loved to rust out at the back causing the rear bumpers to drop off...





This engine swapped Civic with big turbo was one of many "tuner" type cars present.  In fact the vast majority of this show was for the tuner crowd.  I took very few pics because of this...





This was quite unexpected.  A 1961 Corvair Lakewood wagon!  Pretty rare car nowadays...





And how about this?  A "slightly" modified 1965 Corvair...




Um that is not generally what you find in the back seat...  Look at those headers!





The owner has lapped the famed Nuremburg racetrack, and would love to ship this over and give it a go.  I would watch that...





And arguably the most important vehicle there.  Yup, that is a genuine VW ID Buzz.  On the tour circuit until VW FINALLY decides to make it possible to buy these things after teasing for years and years.





The interior was kind of neat.  As far as modern minivans go, it did look reasonably decent.  Probably will be stupid expensive like all electric cars these days...

I kinda liked being parked between Rob and a blue Maverick because my parents owned a black Beetle with red interior and my wife and I currently own the most recent iteration of Ford's Maverick, lol!



The Buzz did create some buzz as it made its way thru the show





A loaded down DoKa caught my attention as it drove by. I used to own one y'see...

Is that a BMW engine? I didn't check, but seems to me the new Supra went to the dark side in the engine bay



What is it about white wheels I like? This guy must be handicapped, look at that parking job, LOL!!



Are yellow headlights legal here?



Grabber Blue Smurf Maverick. 33 years-owned and raced all over the place!







All kinds of rides could be seen there



From Dragnet? Had a very cool siren and lights worked too



Vintage car shade on an old Nissan



Talked with this fellow at length. Truck was used to build a house, then restored. H now needs to use a trailer, lol!!



Proud of 6 cylinder and three on the tree. Must be the gas prices





Gerhard's now all-steel Panel. Nice truck, lots of work! Note the suicide doors

I liked the upside down teardrop taillights



Pretty close to "Plum Crazy"...gotta want to be noticed!



Taillights a bit small for my liking, but maybe the colour makes up for them?

When the sound of your engine competes with the sound system





Probably the favourite of the show for me. A newly finished Datsun 510. Liked most everything about this car. Fellow was a long-time racer and has had this on the Circuit in Cowichan

Does chrome get you home or not? This Valiant's restorer probably thinks it does. Then again, it was for sale....

A TR2 late to the show. 1955 Tillamook Rally participant!





The wheels on this were just wrong, sorry. Especially considering how proud the owner was of its rarity

Hey Don, did you happen to remember the name of the guy with the Maverick beside you?  Guy in my apprenticeship class had a blue one like that, and I wonder if it was his???

Sorry Russ, I actually never asked him his name, even though we talked a fair bit. He was from Port Alberni and seemed like he has lived there for a long time, if that is any help.
