Well, not so much lax in a bad way, but a shop that has a relaxed and 'friendly' attitude towards VWs/custom car safety inspections for my buggy when the time comes. I'm not really expecting anyone to pass my car while it lays on the ground (I can re-insert the torsion bars) but I've seen many vehicles at car shows that likely shouldn't have Antique plates when they have a blown sbc blocking forward view, no fenders, filled wiper holes in the cowl, etc. After all, most dune buggies have about the same crash safety as a large motorcycle. I remember the PITA it was when my lowered '62 Austin Mini woody wagon was ordered to undergo an inspection by a cop that likely had never seen one before. The shop failed my rear steel tube bumper as it was not "original", which would have been made of basically factory tinfoil, not enough suspension travel, etc. I can't even flat tow my buggy at this point.
Thanks
Alan

You aren't likely to get a recommendation for that type of shop in a public forum. They are usually shared word-of-mouth. Since the province moved to a digital online system, though, it's been MUCH harder to find such a willing shop. Best plan of action is to make sure your buggy will pass the book.
