As stated in the title. I have a new never used header that I'd like to ceramic coat before I use it.
Thanks

Thanks, that may be what I'm looking for, didn't realize there is a high heat version of powder coating. I don't want to send it all way over to the mainland if there's a local solution.

It seems there is a place in Cowichan that does Ceramic Coating, waiting for a response from them now. I'm sure it will cost more than the exhaust did... www.powdercraft.ca/

Just got off the phone with the owner of www.powdercraft.ca in Cobble Hill. I didn't expect him to call me on a day when he's closed, he chatted for with me for quite awhile and was very informative, really helpful. He figures it would cost about $500cdn to coat my Baja-style header, muffler and J-tubes, which is a bit more than I expected but not crazy compared to a $1500 stainless system. He stated you only get a flat finish with the coatings that take 2k F. temps but have a wide range of colours.

Had a friend who was restoring an MG , he bought an old oven and modified it and did his own powder coating ! I've thought about doing that too but powdercoat will not take the high heat of exhaust temperatures. I could just buy a stainless steel header/muffler as it doesn't cost alot more than the phone quote I received. The build is already over budget enough that when finished I don't want to be regularly spraying BBQ paint on my exhaust. Reading onlne I've discovered that Cerakote C is what is used for exhaust coating and it can be done at home as it only requires a spray gun to apply, then air dry for 5-7 days for a full cure before use. I believe the high cost of having a shop do it is in the labour of prep work/sand blasting that is done @ $80/hr. I have a sand blaster and a spray outfit, I may have a go at doing myself and saving about $400. www.cerakote.com/shop/cerakote-coating/C-7700/cerakote-glacier-silver
