Tinware

After my engine heat issues last year, I decided to source a set of OEM tinware for my bus. I am prepping the tinware for paint and there are a couple of bits that I am wondering if I should remove.
The first is the small tube protruding from the outer edge of the fan housing. I think that this is related to the original air filter as fitted to the late model Beetle that this was liberated from. What is it for? I am thinking of chopping it off and welding up the hole.
The second is the small nut insert in the shroud tins. What is this for? Again, I am considering welding it up.
The tinware is going onto a 1600cc DP engine, which will be running either a twin barrel Weber or stock Solex carb'. Attachments:

well one is for the a hose that goes to the air cleaner, you can use with duals with a fitting \on air cleaner to attach, or delete. the nut sert is for tin that goes around the intake manifold heat risers, if using dual carbs you dont need them. stock tin to look complete uses them.

The spigot on the main fan shroud went to charcoal canisters. The return hose from the canister is what actually connected to the air cleaner spigot. In any case, cut it off and weld it up because it will look better.

Thanks Gent's
I'll remove the line from the fan housing, but I'll retain the nuts, in case I manage to find the missing tin to go around the heat risers. The OG bits that I am missing now are these bits for the heat risers, the piece that fits in front of the pulley, on top of the lower tinware and the OG sleds that go under the engine (I have repro versions for now). If anyone has any of this that they would like to sell, then I am looking!

A sealed engine compartment is a happy one. I am sure we can rustle up some heat riser tin, even if you just need to plug them off. Otherwise, some formed pieces held in using the stock captured nuts could be used to plug the gaps. Just a thought...
