I have a 1600cc stock motor for my bus and I am trying to decide on carb's. I have my 44mm Webers that I could borrow from the 1914 for this year, but even jetted down I think they will be overkill and may not work too well on a stock motor. I am thinking of looking for a small pair of twin carb's, but am not certain what is best. So far, I have been leaning towards Kadrons, because they appear plentiful and reasonably inexpensive. I am not stuck on any particular brand or size though, so would happily consider something else. I have a single dual barrel progressive Weber carb' on the Ghia (purchased new through CIP1 around 7 or 8 years ago), but for some reason it has been designed to be installed with the adjustment screws facing the fanhousing, which makes adjustment next to impossible. I have not noticed any real improvement over the stock Solex, but then the engine is also getting a little tired. I am hoping to boost the performance just a little, without breaking the bank. What are everyone's experiences and what do you suggest?

The Kadrons were always popular for cheap performance on mild engines. Weber people always ridicule Kadrons, but the reality is that they are much cheaper, and work just fine for their intended application. Just make sure the throttle bushings are not totally worn out...

cant beat a fresh set of(properly installed) kadrons for the bang for the buck. the 44s are way big and are best for high rpm power in larger engines with h/p cams and heads. for best results a venturi for each cylinder will give you the best efficiency and smoothness but you cant argue the success of the dual single throat solex carbs in milder builds up to 75hp
