Like the title says… I need to take the chrome off some crappy hubcaps I intend to bondo then paint commercial grey.

Is there one of those immerse it in some base or acid solution then do the anode electrode thing with a battery charger methods of dechroming it ?

yes you can use muratic or sulfuric acids at i believe at a 40% ratio but dealing with the danger (its terminator blood!) and the waste can be problematic! i would give electro shine in victoria a call just for a quote i dont believe stripping is all that expensive compared to the plating (but who knows!) probably cheaper than 4000 sheets of sand paper.

I think it can only be removed via reversing the chroming procedure. The question is why do you want to paint a chrome hubcap!!!
