Thought this would be a good picture for the nostalgia section. This was taken around 1995 at the last VW event I ever took my 1970 Beetle to. It was held in Coombs, I think it was put on by Country Volks at the time but I am not sure of that.
That Beetle to the right with the weird two tone was much later owned by a long ago customer. Unfortunately the kid totalled it (and ruined the two other beetles he had too)
This picture was the last one I ever took of my car where it still looked relatively respectable. Don't look too close or you will spot the rust/primer spots... These wheels will be returned to this car someday!
Found this original Volkswagen postcard lastnight.. Don will approve.
This postcard was sent to my Granny's friend back in 1971 as a reminder to bring her new fastback in for the 6000 mile service. Does anyone remember Maguire Motors in Duncan? It was in business from 1968-?. Incidently my Granny bought her 1970 Beetle from Maguire as she was pissed off with the treatment from the local Harrison Motors in Nanaimo. Maguire further sweetened the deal by giving her a very rare accessory, a Kamei parcel shelf assembly which had a trap door in it to access the rear luggage shelf and was covered with the same material as the headliner. I have never seen another one of these. Too bad I cut it up when installing speakers in it almost 30 years ago!
How about my very first VW's.
Only one owner since new! Had them both since the very early '70's. Funny to think I ended up with the real versions too!
