Hey there folks, Some of you might remember that I found a 1970 turret top last year for my bro Bob. Well Bob has decided to move on and pick up a 88 Vanagon GL, leaving me to re-adopt the "Cutie Bus" (named by my little girl). Here are some pics to kick of the thread. I'll post more shortly as there has been a fair bit of work done since these photos were taken. Most notably the flawless dash (Thanks Don). Now that I have this bus, I'll tear down my 74 and go all WCP on that thing. It will take a lot of work, but I'll be a metal fab genius by the time I'm done. Before I return to add more pics, I'll sort out how to make them bigger. I'm clearly missing something with regard to how to attach photos. More to come!! All the best! Byron

I don't remember that bus, and I took a LOT of pictures at Volkfest. Congratulations on your latest acquisition! And it is cool you intend to fix up your first bus too. I should fix up my first VW someday too before there is nothing left...

Greetings all! I was making plans to repaint my bus 70 back to Neptune Blue. That was until "Old Blue" came back to the club (congrats by the way). :-) I know Brent likes to be different and I don't want to be a copy cat so...what are your thoughts on the color of this bus? The first thing that everyone says about this bus is that they love the color. While I agree it looks "good", I don't like the color at all. What say you folks, should I just relax and get over it? It will need paint attention soon so I'm hoping to make a decision I won't regret. On another note, I too was planning on a slight drop and narrow. Man, I'm going to need to get me a little white dog too! Thanks for your thoughts on this important matter. Byron

Good to have you back again! I have a comment on your bus colour... I really like seeing VWs in their original colours, or at least other VW colours available at the time. I would not hesitate to repaint that bus blue! That generic pepperminty colour screams 1980's to me, whereas the correct shades are timeless...

I agree. Neptune Blue is one of VW's best colours. I bought a peppermint Ghia once and immediately took off all of the paint because I hated the colour - and that was in the nineties when it was still somewhat popular. If you want to be different to Brent, go white on top. I would just paint the whole thing blue though, but maybe that's just me!

There is another Neptune Blue Bus around y'know…..look to your left <<< If you want to be different to Brent, go white on top. I would just paint the whole thing blue though, but maybe that's just me! I believe the correct colour schemes for 68-70 Buses(Kombis) was all one colour. If you wanted a Deluxe model, the roof would have been Cloud White(i.e. body colour was up to the gutters). The scheme changed in 1971 when for Deluxe Buses the paint change was at the belt line, like the the "pepperminty" colour now.
