That's nuts!!
As many of you know, I live on Lasqueti Island. Back in the 70s it was a common sight to see a bus or a beetle on top of the old Capt. Vancouver, the rusty tub of a ferry we had in those days. At high tide the ferry skipper (who was also a raging alcoholic, and usually extremely inebriated) would lay a pair of heavy planks seesaw fashion over the edge of the wharf, directly over the cabin top of the boat. He would then inch the car up the planks until they tipped down onto the cabin top, then drive the car onto the roof of the ferry. The procedure was reversed for unloading. Vehicles were never tied down, and apparently at least one was lost when a Westerly suddenly sprang up. The 1948 International Metro that I learned to drive on (and still have) came over to the island this way.

68IIIbuggy, that's amazing. I never thought we did that sort of thing here on the west coast. In the video above I can't believe they not only started out with a rickety raft, but then they have rafted two boats together with the bus straddling both..Doh!

Wow...that's awesome. I love the little tune also.
I spend a lot of time in West Africa. It's amazing how those very industrious people can get anything strapped to a boat to a truck.
Awesome!

As a seaman and a VW nut, that looked seriously dodgy! I liked his tow hitch though. Does anyone have a spare one like yhat lying in their yard???
