coworkers boyfriend is interested in selling his 1978 westy. they asked me to have a look and provide my thoughts. i took a look at it last night.
my observations:
body is in really nice shape. very minor rust on dogleg (small patch will be required). rear hatch could use a replacement (rust on seal lip goes though). front windshield seal has some rust starting. battery tray needs replacement. no accidents. overall - probably less than 10 hours metal work would get this ready to roll.
has been resprayed. Rino coating on lower 4" (painted white)
front brake caliper needs attention
runs great. no leaks on oil or exhaust (some surface rust on muffler).
has gas heater that works
main cabinet has been modified / replaced. 3 way ridge works
has electric heater (no aux battery)
Overall - used and ready to roll. could use a paint polish
i gave them my ballpark of what i thought he could easily get for it. i'd love to hear your collective thoughts.
