Hi I'm in Nanaimo where do you guys/gals get your tin for body repairs? Need a small sheet to cut for irregular rust repairs Thanks!

.......probably find something at Nanaimo Sheet Metal , welding shops , I think even Canadian tire probably had small sheet metal pieces , but my personal favourite is cheap or free I've been cutting sheet metal pieces out of an old super beetle roof and fenders for years or maybe a body shop dumpster or maybe off of Brenticons (daily driver) green bus

Metal Supermarkets are just off Dorman Road, near the intersection with Labieux. Also Canadian Tire and Home Depot sell small pieces of sheet steel.

In the past I've gone into scrap metal junkyards and explained I need some old fenders or door panels to practice welding on and they've given me all I can use. It's worth a try anyway, nothing but a few minutes of time to lose. Stan

Thanks for the info everyone Good stuff just went over my van today I bought one of those portable shelters 12x20x9 and lined the bottom 5 feet with fire blanket from work. Bought a bottle of gas for my welder. Went over it today the sills are gone both sides. 3 outriggers on drivers side 1 on passenger, cab floor needs patching, battery tray, a couple crossmember need attention, rear wings are gone etc.. lol not as bad as I thought so far I'm glad I held on to the old girl. Let the work begin!

I'm going through the same process on my bus. It's a big deal for sure. I too am stoked that you held on to your bus. I (we all) speak to people every day who regret having sold their old bus. Looking forward to seeing some pictures posted. BTW - I get my sheet metal from a sign shop (in Victoria) really cheap. You might want to call a few shop in Nanaimo.
Keep calm and weld on.

Old washing machine cabinets are made of quite good quality steel, and are a good thickness for body repair. Oh, and they're plentiful and free.
