No one has seen our 69 ghia convertible til now. I did all the work myself about 15 years ago . We bought this for $5000 just like you see before doing anything. Everything came in 3 boxes. 3 boxes of rusty junk . I put a stayfast top on it also. That was tough as never done it before
All this welding you see is from previous owner who said all has to be ground then putty it up. No penetration in any of his welds so when I started grinding it all sprung off.
Basically I cut all his handy work out bought new panels and welded them in
Ready for paint couldn't have done it with out a long board sander by hand. Lots of curves on this baby
If you are wondering those are ultra rare Momo wheels 71-72 Porsche 914

Hi Karl. That looks very nice indeed. '69 is a great year - IRS, early body style. My old 71 coupe was a similar colour to this car. Bright red metallic looks great on a Ghia. Looking forward to seeing this one. I was also drooling over your bus a few days ago when the site first went online and I saw your red DC on the banner across the top.

My wife and I saw a Ghia parked on Broadway Ave many years ago in Vancouver with a for sale sign on it. The owner wanted $450 for it because it was in near mint condition. We decided it was way too much money. So much for bad decisions eh? Stan

Thanks for all the kind words. When you decide to do these things it's like a labour of love. In many cases you never get paid for all the labour you have to put into them. That includes gathering and finding all the right parts. As in most cases aftermarket just doesn't cut it any more. Yes at $450 for a mint Ghia you will be kicking your self for years to come. Karl

I'm in awe of you for the skills you have doing that work Karl. I putz around with mine but it's nothing compared to the superb job you've done on your Ghia. Stan

Thanks but she only looks very nice in pics from a long ways away. Or if you need glasses . One day though..... although she'll never be a trailer queen, just a reliable user. We love camping and are new to the island so there's lots to see. I just found out there's around 80 or so known caves on the island Stan
