I once made it from central Nanaimo to the Langford exit in 50 minutes. In my 1970 Beetle, too!

I just recently made the decision to pass on Volksfest for the first time in many years. I'm doing a VW related adventure, but i'm not going to get too excited just yet in case it doesn't pan out. You brothers and sisters have a ripper time. Perhaps someone can grab me a couple of veggie dogs for when next we meet. VOLKSFEST! B

I'm leaving the Bug in the garage this year and just bringing down a load full of parts. Any requests?

Thanks for representin' everyone! 'twas a great day I hardly pulled out my camera, but I know one photog that won't disappoint ! Give it time though, that was a long day as well! I did get a quick cellphone pic, but it was kinda hard with trailer in tow... And what was on the trailer?....the "Zombeetle"... I will let Russ elaborate when he is ready....

Pictures are loading onto IMGUR right now. 144 pictures will take some time... Was a great show, and would have loved to have more time to BS with everyone...

OK. Here it comes...
Those of us who met at Rona in Nanaimo for the trek down. Rob and Reagh should have been there too, but one of them couldn't wake up on time...
Meanwhile Don was busy roping up something nasty on his trailer. Not too many parts fell off on the way down...
Now onto the show proper... First up is this this '60's Beetle. Now a disclaimer... It was a very busy day, and I wasn't able to talk to as many people as I would like, so info about each vehicle is sparse this year. And given that I am TERRIBLE at remembering names, if I forgot yours , please don't get angry...
Here is Jason's '65 Beetle. He was happy as it made the trip without issue on his very first flat four engine rebuild. He arrived with his partner who of course I forgot her name (see what I mean???) as well as a buddy in a "chase" Jetta, just in case...
And here is what lucky Jason parked next too... Yes this was my own personal pile of goodness, the old "Project Pootina", now also known as the "ZomBeetle". This was the mini-project referred to earlier, and was done just for laughs. And yes it received a lot of those at the show...
And yes that rope was entirely necessary to stop the floor pans from falling right out. Also necessary to stop me falling out when I DROVE this onto the show field!!! More on this and the car's history later...
I also brought the '62, and this is the longest drive I have ever taken it on. Good thing it made it, because a trip to Seattle is in the works soon...
Not surprisingly, most ignored the '62 and took pictures of the nasty one beside it instead...
Continued...
