Hi, my name is Angie Pebernat, I purchased a 1970 VW Bug (same age as me), my dream car. I have been searching for one for a while and am so happy to finally have one. I've owned about 20 bugs & vans over the years. My very first bug was in 1985 a 1974 bug I bought from Laird Wheaton for $900, paid $300 for 3 months lol. I also have a Pug dog so now I have a pug that can ride in a bug lol. I will be putting the bug to original as best I can, it will be a slow process (depending on funds). And it will never sit outside in winter and I will never sell it.

With regards to your electrical problems, always start with the fusebox and make sure all terminals are clean where the fuses make contact. Do you have the Bentley manual? Early versions have nice colourful wiring diagrams, and the 1970 version is easy to follow. TheSamba also has these diagrams in the technical section. As always with electrical issues, make sure the wires are firmly connected, and make sure the grounds are clean. This will usually solve most issues...

Thanks Courtenay Hook already sent me the Samba diagram, cleaned fuse panel, put in new fuses, I did what I could with making sure they are clean and firmly connected but I don't know much about wiring and may be missing something. I finally received a message from someone who said he may be able to come by next week. I'm willing to pay but am amazed at how many don't want money to help lol. I'll check out that link thank you 😄

I am so very glad you bought this. Ive always wanted this car and have had sleepless nights trying to figure out where and how I can restore it. I often talked to Court about how I can sell My car so I can get this one. Late model beetles are still my fave. Congrats and welcome to the forums! if you need any help or questions on wiring or anything you know where to find me. cheers

Many people owe the stopping success to Russ. He's be making bugs stop and go since before it was cool.
Nice to get another check mark on the to-do list. BUTE!

That is cool they are all different takes some driving to see what the good and bad is and signals will act weird if there is a bulb burnt out they go faster on the side with the burnt bulb enjoy your bug. T

Fix the LF signal/park light, replace the rear bulbs, then see what happens. If no improvement, we will have to investigate further... Her problem is that when the hazard switch or right turn signal is engaged, the taillights will flash dimly in time with the signal/hazard bulbs. The left signal is not triggering the taillights to come on. Normally this would be likely bad grounds, but adding a temporary ground did not help. It appears there is circuit backfeeding going on, but we ran out of time and light to deal with this. We also repaired several broken wires, disconnected wires, and things like the high beam indicator feed connected to the gas gauge, as well as several burnt bulbs and corroded sockets. Aren't old VW's fun???

I put in new bulbs, just have to get new front signal unit. Took it out for a drive tonight, was a little nervous but she ran great considering it hasn't driven much. Still have to tighten the fan belt and many many more things lol. Thanks again for helping me, just having brake lights is exciting. 😄😄😄
