Not seeing an easy way to add photos??
Anyone know where the post is to locate what the numbers written on my bug under the hood mean? Russ, I think you said 60 is the gas heater? I can't find the post for that.

So when I purchased the bug the previous owner said to me and it said in the ad that it came with hood, original fenders and a couple of boxes of parts. After a couple weeks of purchase he said I could come pick up hood, and fenders but he would have to dig out boxes, said he would get back to me. I went and got hood & fenders that were obviously not under cover sitting in blackberry bushes rotting away. After asking over and over about the box of parts, I get a message from him asking for more money for the parts. When I said he told me initially I could have them and I wasn't into playing games he got defensive. I said the car had quite a bit of rot on it, I probably paid more than I should but let's face it, I wanted the car. He got more defensive and said he always kept it under cover hahaha this had me nearly peeing my pants in laughter. Long story short few more exchanges of really pleasant messages (not) and I am now looking to buy parts. ๐๐๐ Just an little update on my car. I did buy a beetle body from someone else and will use a few things off of it...visor clips, knobs, etc. Happy VWing

I have a few 1970 beetles here for parts. None of them are in great condition, but who knows, I may have something you need.

So long since I have logged in, it's been quite the ride since 2017. Been flipping a couple of houses, finally settled in Errington, beautiful acre property, 2400 sqft shop, lots of room for the bug to finally get some work done on her (yes it is a she lol). Have also finally decided, I can't go original on the bug, too difficult since I would have to pay someone to do all the work. So headed down the modified road...I know, I know, painful but at least I'll be able to afford to do it, with help I can do some of the work myself. Please no bashing, it just needs to get on the road, right Happy VWing everyone

It's your Bug to do with as you wish. It's usually best not to make non-reversible modifications, but most VWs are upgraded in some way. That said, stick with original or refurbished original parts where you can, as original VW is nearly always better quality than aftermarket parts. There are a lot of junk "new" parts out there.

Thanks, I will definitely use all the original parts I have or can get, but it most likely will have some changes ๐. Going to take a while since I am doing most of the work myself and what I can't do I will be out sourcing the work. Happy VWing ๐คช๐

I put in new bulbs, just have to get new front signal unit. Took it out for a drive tonight, was a little nervous but she ran great considering it hasn't driven much. Still have to tighten the fan belt and many many more things lol. Thanks again for helping me, just having brake lights is exciting. ๐๐๐ Did you get the signal unit I have a bunch I would share and what else are you looking for? Tell us the mods your making on the car? (THAT Terry)

Glad to know you are still out there and still have that interesting Canadian Custom Beetle. I did eventually find the original license light housing from that car... Hope the project comes together well for you...
