I'm pretty disappointed with the stock battery in my '03 Golf , probably built June-ish of '02 and 'only' lasted 'til Oct. of 2017 , so just over 15-ish years and the battery I replaced it with was free too , so that really sucks!

The battery in my Ghia was free, as a customer replaced it because they felt it was too old. I think it is going to turn 14 this year... Most car batteries seem to last 8-10 years at the most. Rebecca's FJ still has its original Panasonic Japanese battery. It is coming up on 12 years of age and outlasted the alternator! I have owned some of my cars for so long, that I have replaced the battery three times!

Frank offers free batteries from his bug. He leaves the rear seat out to make it easier. I have saved so many batteries that people have thought are wrecked. They get to a point where the "smart" modern chargers won't charge em. All you need is a dumb charger that's older than yer dad and lots of time. They come back to life no hangs.

Yep I did the gramps charger thing all last winter and was just able to flash'er up 'most' mornings and as the weather got warmer it was good again through the summer 'til yesterday morning. I think battery years are like dog years. Lol

I can absolutely tell you they don't make em like they used to. From personal experience. Stan

Actually Stan , I was being sarcastic regarding this post , I thought 15 1/4 years was pretty amazing for a stock battery or any battery for that matter.

I wasn't necessarily talking about batteries. Stan

Considering the chosen category, does changing the battery in your vehicle make it a "project vehicle"?
