A club has meetings with minutes, has to report yearly to the goberment and has to keep financial records for the goberment.

I liked that old logo. Otherwise all that official stuff sucked. I was the "secretary" for awhile in the past and had to record minutes to keep certain people in line when they started making stuff up. Ain't doing that again! Other then the logo and window stickers, don't miss much from those old days...

When you're a club, there are responsibilities. An informal group of enthusiasts has no formal responsibilities. If you don't want those responsibilities, stay as an informal group of enthjusiasts.

I was under the impression that some mentioned they liked the old name and logo. Restarting an "official" club with real rules and "elected" leaders did not seem to be what anyone was asking for. At least this is my opinion, as I did not take "minutes" at the meeting...  As far as I was aware, nobody complained about this site, or our annual "cruise-in". With the old "club", we had many problems with organizing anything due to some very, uh, "optimistic" ideas put forward by some individuals about what we could accomplish, with extremely limited (read near zero) funds available... For those that did not know, the original NVWC (Nanaimo Volks wagen Club) website was started by someone who later left the "scene", but would not relinquish control of the site to anyone else. This is what prompted most to leave that original site (now long dead), and join this one instead. The majority of the early content on this site was transferred from the original at start up, so not too much was lost in the transition... This site will have been up and running for four years once we reach October... |
