I am. My last year on the organizing committee. Wonder if the DVKK are going to take the club crest back?

Haha, no drama. I live on the island, work is insanely busy. I don't have the time to be helping the club in the way they require. So after GCVW I'll either become 'club member at large', or if they ask me to depart, "former club member".
It's a running joke that we take back the DVKK crests off of cars with a rusty blunt screwdriver...but that's never happened.

In the line up for a 7:40 boat. have Transmissions and leftover parts for my 56 to pick up and drop off in 2 different spots. Then 8:40 boat Sunday night. I am bringing my truck in case any big items need to come back with me.

Wet. Very wet and not very warm. Unfortunately it seemed that the weather kept people away. I arrived at around 1100 and there were big gaps between the show cars. There weren't many spectators either. There were some great cars there as usual, but the weather really ruined the show.

Sooo, I heard some comments about this show from a customer today. And they were not very positive at all. Any other feedback??? I'd love to hear these, probably in a private message? Yup. For the 7(?) years I've been involved with the running of the show, we've always managed to 'fill' the show (relatively speaking). For the last five years, we haven't done a pre-registration so the spacing for classes is always a question mark. We get it close, but never perfect, so the show has always had some gaps or classes that ran out of space. I knew we were in trouble at 7:30am when there wasn't a line up to get in, as their usually is. The number of show cars was way down from previous years. In short, the weather really wrecked the Sunday. Not much you can do when the weather turns crap though.

Car shows really suck in the rain. Quite some time ago I remember taking in the GCVWS out in PoCo in crap weather and we here have had a couple of our Cruise Ins impacted(low numbers/cancellations)by the wet stuff. Generally mid summer weather is a good bet, but unfortunately this year it wasn't. It is painful for the organizers because the hope is always for a fun time sharing the VW passion.

I really felt for the organizers. It was the usual setup in the usual location, both of which are usually very successful. Repeating the normally successful formula does not mean less effort being put into organizing it. But the weather sucked. There had evidently been a lot of time and likely money put into setting the show up, only for it to be the one cold and wet day in August. Rain or not, it was worth the visit for me.
