I'm in the process of prepping a 1600 dual port for a buddies 1967 Bus. Tin wise, what do I need for the front most vertical tin (fuel line passes through it), and for the rear?
I don't have the bus to look at the engine bay opening, and the only Type 2 I've ever owned was my 68 single cab. I *think* 1967 should use the same tin as any beetle, but don't know for sure.

Mine uses Beetle tin. I understand that they're all the same. A 1967 would have been a 1500cc single port upright Beetle style motor.
With a DP, you'll obviously want the doghouse style front tin

I'm not sure these pics will help or not. They are from better days long ago and my 62SC. I know the Bay's forward tin is a different shape and has a hole cut in it when a dog house was used.

My '57 runs a 1600 DP with a doghouse cooler. The Beetle tin with the cutout for the cooler intake piece fits nicely.

Awesome! Thanks guys.
Is there a good machine shop on the island for linebores? Looking for quick turn-around.

Nanaimo a few years ago, I was told by Thompson and by Island D Island D Automotive that they had sold their VW equipment. Good luck.

I thought Ellice in Vic was the only place on the Island now. Rob(robsannes on here) in Lantzville will probably have the most up to date info. Not a quick turnaround FWIR unfortunately.

Thompson can do it or so I was told by them the last time I went in to inquire. I chose Ellice and turnaround was pretty slow, but perfection takes time.

What does that sign say "do you want it done quick, done cheap or done well, pick two". Something like that. Seems to be a well worn saying. Stan

Rick Hogg in Chemainus bought Peter Roberts old equipment. He does align bores now.
