So things are starting to relax a bit and finally some long overdue visiting of friends was done... So up to R@R VW limited to see what was going on...
There are the two proprietors themselves working on a bus. But not just any bus; that is my old '77 Westfalia that I never got around to doing anything with. Reagh has owned it for awhile now, and Rob reassembled the engine and reinstalled it and the transmission along with everything else the owner before me had removed. After some wire tweakage and vacuum leaks repairs, the beast fired up. Now Rob gets the fun job of putting all the exhaust system back together... The primer spots on the bus are going to be professionally blended, as the rest of the Taiga Green paint is entirely original. Should be lookin good!
HighTopRob has been busy finishing off the bodywork on his signature VW as well. This is nearing readiness for final paint, and again a professional is being brought in to do the final colour coats. The boys have already built a "spray booth" in the shop in anticipation. Sheets of plastic properly anchored to the ceiling should be nicely effective with the low pressure high volume paint gun that will be used. Rob is already fretting about taking his soon to be shiny bus down some of those nasty logging roads. Welcome to my world...
Peeking out in the back of this photo is Robs "other" bus. He has had this formerly V6 powered bus for awhile now and it is roadworthy too! Cool!
My transport for the day was the mighty Terseo, on its first trip out of town. Reagh is still enjoying driving the Notch as much as possible too. A great day of VW chat, and it was definitely nice to finally see some friends in person again. Lets hope things continue to improve on the pandemic front...
