The idea for this thread occurred to me whilst cleaning up the front of my bus this afternoon, after an overnight garage mishap.
Someone bought me a bottle of craft coffee porter beer last year. I don't drink porter or coffee, so it lasted longer than beer normally does in our house. It was in the garage on the counter near the front of my bus. Last night the bottle exploded covering the front of the bus and the inside of my garage in glass and porter, so now my garage reeks of stale beer. It took a long time to clean up!
What is the strangest thing to happen to your VW?

I remember way back when I had my all year round daily driver 1970 KG convert , I guess some moisture would manage to get past the rear window and get on the carpet below and more than once I would get grass and mushrooms growing there and one time a small cedar tree! I was used to it and just assumed it was normal.

Weirdest thing? It would have to be up near Prince George back in the 80's when I turned onto an on-ramp for the highway. Suddenly my engine went to full rev. My instinct was to immediately shut the key off and go have a look. I took the air cleaner rubber boot off and found the brass accelerator pump fitting to be jammed in the butterfly valve. Once I had removed it and tapped it back into its location all was good. But it was a bit of a fluke that the brass piece hadn't been sucked down the intake and beaten to death by a piston, or f'ed up a valve...which has been known to happen Most life-changing thing was hitting my future dog... Most scary thing was getting the hell outta dodge in my Westy when the American we had befriended in a bar near Cabo San Lucas on the Baja started waving a revolver around....

I sold it around '85 and it was in reasonable shape and running well , although I can't remember who the next owner was or how much I sold it for but I bought it in around '82 for 1K with a brand new roof.

I'm going to have to think about this for awhile...

OK, here is one. Back in the '80's when driving my first car (the '70 Beetle), I managed to get a choice parking spot right outside the old Fiesta movie theater on Cheapo Tuesday. The car was sporting its fresh shiny green paint which a few "friends" of mine referred to as "Booger Green". I guess others felt the same way, as when leaving the theater later, it was covered with hockers and loogies! Nice...

When my daughter was attending U.Vic , she had to borrow her room mates bus to move some stuff. So she's downtown pulling into the left hand lane to make a turn at the lights. All of a sudden the horn starts blaring away , which makes the cars in front of her really happy. She starts banging on the horn to make it stop , but she realizes the other drivers don't see it that way, so she throws her hands in the air to show them she's not to blame and as she does , the horn stops. Now the traffic in front of her has cleared , she enters the intersection , cranks the wheel and the horn starts again just as an elderly gentleman with a cane is crossing the street in front of her. He thinks she telling him to move it ,so he tries to walk faster but is obviously struggling . Meanwhile she's getting the snake eye and rude comments from pedestrians and other drivers. When she gets the bus back , her roomie says" Oh ya , I forgot to tell you about the horn."

All of a sudden the horn starts blaring away I do believe the "idiot manual" by Muir has a segment on this. I think it goes that usually a piece of tape to replace the worn/ripped insulation on the wire where it is making contact as it comes out of the steering column....but don't quote me. That said, Victoria was the best place this "horn issue" could arise!
