Sooo, way back in 1989, it seems my Mom and Sister went to Victoria for some reason and stumbled on a car show of some sort. Not a VW specific show, but obviously some were there.... I guess my sister liked that cabriolet and Mom clicked the shutter. Look at that very period Type 3 Notch in the background. Surely some of you from Victoria remember that... Now that is a period piece, isn't it. I believe this photo is from the same location in the photo album, but the weather looks different, so don't really know. Anyone recognize the cars or even the location? I am sure a Beetle like that was very well known in the area...

The white convertible I'm pretty sure was Dave Oxendales. That notch was built by Dave Wallace (I believe) and later owned by Upholstery Fred and his brother. That scalloped beast does not look familiar at all as a local car. Nor the location.

Location doesn't look like Victoria, maybe out towards Sooke?
Was that scalloped car the one Jason Stevens built? About the right time frame.

Oh yeah! The bastard step-brother of the BAAD 55. I think you're right. This car was all right, but the BAAD 55 was above and beyond.

I'll have to see if I can find the old VW Trends or Hot VWs the scalloped car was in.

You know I do remember that scalloped car vaguely, and now that you mention who owned it, I do remember seeing it in one of the mags back in the day...

A couple of more pictures... These last two pictures were taken by my grandparents on a long ago trip to California back in the 1980's. Grandma knew I was a VW fan and took these for me. Recently Mom was going through their old albums and throwing out most of their trip/scenery related pics as realistically they didn't have any meaning except to Grandma. Kinda sad, but reality. Anyway at least we can see these two pictures that survived...
