Rob - did you install it yourself and if so how easy was it? Yes after talking to Mitchy a couple years back I was intrigued and bought one and It was not overly difficult to install. I had a compatibility issue with a pertronix 2 ignition module would not start easily so I switched to an original pertronix ignitor but points will work. There are several electrical connections a vacuum signal connection and some computer work. One tricky thing was that where you need to set the distributor and rotor to fire. I like it in my modified car my buddy is thinking about one for his 69 with a 1600 singleport. If you can find correct stock parts I would use those first. If you can't, Blackbox is a way you can mimic the stock ignition curve perfectly for yours or any 4, 6. 8 cylinder engine. Do a Google search and there is lots of information out there on it. I did talk about it quite a bit in my "winter is coming thread" on this forum( miacvw.proboards.com/thread/1333/winter-coming ). Cheers and good luck.

Were you happy with the Kilmat? Any smells? Easy to apply?
I researched the Noico again and it is butyl based. It is the adhesive that is asphalt based.

Thanks for the tips - I'm in no rush to do the sound deadening , the thermometer says -35 this morning - probably wouldn't stick too well. Just remembered I've left 1/2 a box of beer in the shop - always bring the dog and beer into the house on those cold nights. The reviews on the black box look good . I'll admit , the procedure sounds intimidating , but I've learned to ignore that little voice in my head that's always saying "you're going to screw it up!""

It won’t be Just asphalt it to brittle, probably SBS (Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene) based. That’s typical for most self adhered products, unless they are acrylic, or Butyl based. The foil facer will reduce the off gassing that may occur. Sealing the overlaps and leading edge with a compatible Low or no VOC Sealant. That should solve the “smell” because it will be sealed in. I have done a couple van floors in this fashion. You Can do about 85-100 SQ FT For under $200.00 if you have the desire and some skills. I am a technical representative for a membrane manufacturer. I don’t mind giving someone some tips if the wanted to try it.
