Well that is quite sucky. I assume that most supporters of the site jumped ship for the usual Facebook/social media that has ruined most stand-alone websites. Is this what happened???

Up here in Nanaimo we enjoyed perusing the VVWC site for many years maybe they could use this site and make an even bigger Vw community all on one site. The ludditeness of the Nanaimo VW people will probably mean there will be a non-Faceplant site for years to come!😎👍

The VVWC decision makers turned their backs on the vvwc.ca forum a couple of years ago, figuring they could do everything on Facebook. I'm not sure if the decision to shut that forum down now was made by Devin due to low usage or directed by the club administration. It's unfortunate as I've never found FB to be as suitable for a forum group as an actual forum.
Some may have noticed that they didn't even bother advertising the last couple of Volksfests (that occured) there.
I think the whole thing is a mistake on their part but as I don't really participate in the club anymore my opinion is just another fart in the wind :-D

It is funny how things work. For a specific age group, Facebook seems to mean everything to them. My kid is now turning 20, and many of his age group wouldn't be caught dead using such an "obsolete" social media. Rest assured, for as long as our website is utilized, it won't be going anywhere... I have invested too much into it...

So sad, yet so predictable. One of the many components of the "clusterf**k" approaching our planet (among them global warming, economic collapse, an acceleration of global health problems) is the almost hidden "elephant in the room" which is a downward spiral of critical thinking skills. Often called the "forgotten" form of intelligence. It involves gathering and parsing data to allow for predicting decision points of future actions, then recognizing the consequences of those actions. The simplest example is "I wonder what might happen to me if I stand real close to that cliff edge?" When people have learned critical thinking skills well, decision trees amounting to many tens of "decision branches" into the future can be predicted with remarkable precision. Without good critical thinking skills we will all be standing real close to that cliff edge.
With face book, despite it's founders admitting publicly to calling in experts in neurological science to help them design a format that demonstrably fires the nucleus accumbens and the prefrontal cortex of the brain in exactly the same way opioids do, causing a condition that is identical to opioid addiction, most people blindly become addicted without even noticing. Without even knowing it they become addicted to accumulating "likes" just like a junkie has to have his "fix". And Mark Zuckerberg isn't the least bit repentant about it at all. Stan
