So the transmission's in neutral , foot off the clutch ,I start the engine and there's a "sound " that's coming from " back there'. It's not a squeal or rumble , but it goes away when I depress the clutch peddle. The peddle has about an inch of play , the t. o. bearing has about 150 miles on it - just installed a new clutch cable this past week , but the sound had been there before that. I know it's tricky doing a diagnosis on line , but if anyone has experienced this or has some ideas what it might be , I'd much appreciate your thoughts.

Worn bearings in the trans can cause a noise like that. Would have to hear it to verify, unfortunately. Could be any number of other vibration type noises too...

Thanks Voltales- I'll keep an ear out to see if the sound evolves. Right now it's break up time in the Cariboo and the back roads are just a mess , so I won't be doing much driving for a while. I'll make sure my BCAA membership is up to date.
