Hello All, My name is Don. When I was 5 my parents bought a slightly used 1970 Westfalia. I loved that Bus for many years and had the honour of caring for it as much as a kid could. I probably didn't want to some of the time, but I have fond memories of washing it and cleaning after a camping trip. The die was cast and I am a Bus guy. I have never owned a Beetle. One rusty Karmann Ghia though. Anyhow, I have not spent much time without a VW in my life. It has happened, but the times were short. I drove to Cabo San Lucas in the same Westy my parents owned after receiving it as a grad from University present. It was rusty and my first vehicle. From 1987 to 1997 I used Air Cooled VW Type 2s as my daily drivers. Then I moved into a water pumper DoKa. In the mid 2000's I yearned once again for an Air Cooled truck or Bus. I haven't looked back since and now have too many, lol!! I welcome any comments via PM that you might have. This is not my site, it is YOURS! My hope is for everyone here to have a great time enjoying this hobby together. Cheers, Don

I never knew you had taste Don! Even a rusty KG is a KG. I suppose you did have that very nice single cab that you SOLD!!!!! Thanks for the , ahem, compliment Mark It pained me to sell that Ghia and I still lust after another(just ask Russ how many times I suggest if he were to ever sell to think of me…..not that it will ever happen!!). I had bought the car from the back of a Chevron on 41st Ave in Vancouver. I got it running and drove it to the Okanagan without a hiccup. Boy, did it scoot! There was a plan to have it restored, and it even went to a body shop. But the guy didn't keep his word and while I was away(at boat school), no work got done. It was depressing! Then I put it up for sale and to this day I kick myself for not taking a guy up on a deal to trade it for a Neptune Blue 1970 Single Cab that I drove past many, many times on the Hope Princeton Highway. I ended up selling the Ghia to some kid. It is probably rust dust now. My earliest memory of driving in a VW car is from when I rode around with my mum's friend(Aileen who is seen in our home movies getting into the Blue Westy, and now lives in Nanaimo) in her Ghia 'Vert. Still remember that VW smell. It was a car that definitely made a good impression on me! It got sold to a guy in California of all places many many years ago. In fact my mum and Aileen drove it down there and got the Greyhound back! Planes were super expensive back then
