They'll all buff out. Stan I was thinking more along the lines of a paintless dent removal guy... One thing did clean up nice... Before: After:

Don't forget the "wing" and the "reverb muffler"! Stan
Isn't "reverb muffler" an "oximoron"?

When do the racing stripes, numbers, and knobby tires get installed??? No knobbies, as I don't really consider it an off-road car. Gonna go the other way a bit. A stripe or two might break up the white though, but numbers, not so much. This is kinda the "replacement" for the car Victor bought from me, but I will be able to drive this one all year on a daily basis. Came with winter tires, and the summers were without rims and from 2008, so I found some replacement newer rims/tires that I hope are gonna work. Getting a few issues with them sorted now at the tire store. Gonna have to get in touch with a paintless dent removal guy too methinks.

So you're going to slam it then?

So you're going to slam it then? Then I couldn't drive it! For now there won't be any significant mods especially since I don't have anywhere to work inside...not to mention a list of projects that I will probably never get to(working on coming to grips with thinning them out ).

So I got to wondering...where was this Rabbit built? In a thread from the Volkswagen Owners Club back when these were new it went like this:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So with that info, and the absence of the original window sticker, does my door jamb sticker really tell me anything? Not that all this concerns me much at all, but I have an obvious idle curiosity... Perhaps people with newer VWs can shed some light? Thanks, Don

Easy. First letter in the 17 digit vehicle identification number is the country code. In this case W means Germany. Incidentally the Americans came up with the VIN number system and vehicles made in the US of A start with a "1". Imagine that...

I wonder how Germany got stuck with the W? Good to know Russ, thanks. I finally got to finishing off the prep for the "new" wheels and tires for the Rabbit. There was a lot of glue residue from old wheel weights that I struggled to remove for a short time until I got frustrated and turned to the almighty youtube. Well, turns out chemical removal is NOT the way to go, but instead a erasure or stripe removal wheel was what proved to be the ticket. Chucked up in the drill the residue removal was made short work of by the wheel. Then they needed a good cleaning to get rid of quite a build up of brake dust. Then it was on to making the curb rash on them not quite as prominent. It wasn't awful, but it did catch the eye quite a bit. After making a mess of things first, I polished off all the paint and started again. This time I just used some silver spray paint but applied it with a fine hobby brush. So now that you have probably skipped reading all this, what wheels did I get? Well, here is a before, wheel covers and winter tires: In the brochure that came with the car, I should have been looking for one of these styles: But I saw these, and, even though they are from more recent marks, the offset is right and I like the looks of them. They are known as "Austin" wheels. Next up? Well, Russ figures all that white needs to be broken up. Again, the brochure gives two ways forward. Not sure I like either, especially because they are just black on the white car. Maybe I should add some colour?
