This past weekend we ran the Classic Car Adventures "Island Adventure". Unfortunately, a 1977 Rover 3500S didn't make it very far and has some serious rear end suspension issues. With few options on where to tow it, for the poor gent from Calgary, it's now at Bavarian Imports. I want to let Russ know it's "one of ours", Tim will be calling the shop and dealing with them direct. Anyone got a cell number for Russ they can PM me? I will probably be picking it up so they don't have to store it until he can get back from Calgary...where am I going to park it?

Don't those old P6 Rovers have inboard brakes and a funky suspension system both front and rear? Where are we going to find parts for that around here???

Good luck to the Rover driver. An unfortunate incident, hope it works out okay.

If you mean one of those portable, battery operated, pocket sized telephones, I don't know. Stan

My Grandfather used to drive on of those in the UK, back when they were a modern car. I understand that they were a luxurious and advanced vehicle in their day. It was pale blue and I think a bit earlier than 1977, but I was only a wee nipper back then so I may be wrong!

This picture gives and idea of what to expect on a P6 Rover. Very unusual car in many ways, and was originally designed with a gas turbine powerplant in mind. Really.

I don't think that diagram is accurate. The ones that I have seen were missing most of the lower sheet metal illustrated in that diagram.

Hahahaha. Honestly, I don't expect that you guys will find parts. I suspect you'll probably do a diagnosis to see what is wrong, and then I'll have to load it onto my trailer and bring it home for Tim to pickup at some point. The Hagerty towing support could get Tim to Bavarian, but not to my house...so we went to Bavarian!

Sooo, had a lookie at the P6 today. Left rear wheel bearing has completely failed. I would assume the hub and perhaps the axle housing are damaged too. Differential carrier has loose bolts, and many of the bushings in the various control arms are in poor condition. It is a cool car, and glad I had the chance to have a look at at. Hope the owner can source parts... I think special pullers may be required for the hub design as well. Might be wrong about that as my only knowledge of P6's comes from Practical Classics magazine!
