Yup it is time. I bolted up those sweet rims and tires on there back around '83... You think they would have lasted longer than 39 seasons of cutting that grass... The Tecumseh engine has turned 59 this year, and the original frame has turned 63 and has been in continuous use since then. It is time for its third set of rims and tires... The throttle cable broke this year and that was an add-on aftermarket units. Also lasted 39 years. Time for another tidy-up then...

My Grandpa's old lawnmower had strips of conveyor belting wrapped around the worn tires to give him "retreads". Still have that mower too (1953 Briggs and Stratton reel type mower) although have not tried to start it in 27 years, though. The black plastic tank is not original on the Tecumseh. The previous tank was white plastic and cracked and leaked several years ago. The "longblock" is 1963, but the outer shrouding and tank were believed to be from a '70's model. Years ago I welded up rust holes in the original frame and needed some new metal. The metal was once part of a 1937 Chevrolet headlight housing! Lots of recycling going on...
