Bostig - Vanagon Conversion System
Yes, it's a thing which is popping up a bit more these days, Zetec engines from Ford Focus cars being custom fitted to Volkswagen Vanagons . Given that there are a lot of powerful and reliable Ford Zetec engines around it seems like a good alternative to the Subaru mod. I think the Zetec engine is a lot less complicated, Russ will know more. This Bostig company video explains their story:
