Actually it was not that much fun at all...
Yup. The drive home last night was the most sphincter clenching experience I have had in a long time. Heavy snow over packed ice and in blizzard conditions made the trip home something else. I do have "all-weather" tires on the Acura, but they are not exactly as new. Acceleration, steering, and stopping were all problematic on the way home. The short but steep-ish hill at the bottom of Wakesiah Avenue was almost my undoing, as I crested the hill at about 1 km/h with the tires spinning and me sawing at the wheel to desperately try to get any form of traction. Approaching my house revealed cars stuck allover the intersection (I live at the bottom of two hills). My only hope was a all or nothing run to the boulevard, as entering the driveway was not an option. The above was the result when neither the steering nor brakes responded to the helm. A woman walking by asked if I meant to do that. It really was the only option... But I still did better than others...
This Dodge Avenger was "parked" out in front of the house. Notice something missing???
I assume another car hit this one on the wheel. It was ripped right off the car with the complete hub assembly. Have a feeling it might be sitting out there for awhile. The road was littered with cars unable to make the hill that night...
So today I had a snow day, and what did I do? Shoveling, shoveling and more shoveling. Did my yard and Mom's house as well. That was six hours I will never get back... At least the kid was roped in to help out near the end. Reluctantly of course...
Anybody else have fun???
