Well it is almost here! This weekend (Sunday June 11th), is time for the swap meet in Nanoose. The location is the big horse barn on the hill (Arbutus Meadows Farm), at 1515 Island Highway East. The doors open at 8:00 am and winds down around 2:00 pm. The admission is $5 per person this year, but it will be worth it. Last year was packed, and as always some cool stuff came home with me. As always this is NOT a VW specific swap meet, but I have always found VW goodies there over the years. The Vintage Car Club of Canada always put on a good event, and the concession is good as well. Hope to see some of you there!

Sooo, lets update what happened at the swapmeet last week... In the cars for sale compound was this shiny red superbeetle. I think it was around $15,000 as the asking price... Deathfoam included at no extra cost too... This Beaumont convertible was very nice. And at $66,000 it better have been VERY nice. 1960's GM products just ain't cheap anymore (except Corvairs of course!) Quite a rare BMW for sale as well, but forgot to check the price. Big block El-Camino was expensive as well... But so is everything else nowadays... But never mind that, what about the goodies for sale inside??? This year was pretty light for me, as I did not find anything special at all. I bought these nice '65 plates for future use on either Glacier Grey or Goldie, but these are available here each year. One particular seller always has nice plates, and he charges accordingly. There were lots of others selling plates, but most were in much worse condition. Anyway this was the only nice thing I bought... I did buy a needy Matchbox '59 T-bird for cheap, and it will eventually get a repaint to match mine. Maybe... That was the only other thing I really wanted... Don spotted this split era? bus trailer hitch that might be genuine Westfalia and bought it. This is the only find for Brian, an electric industrial/school wall clock. Interesting in that there is no mechanism to set the time on it. I think these used a master clock in the office to synchronize them. Working well for him and very quiet. Reagh found a few goodies including a '67 Beetle model and a nice Type 3 repair manual. He also got his hands on a very early Type 3 wheel. VW parts were pretty light this year, and even the literature selection wasn't impressive. Clay was spotted there, but he had not bought any VW or Oldsmobile goodies at that time. Did not see any other VW people around either... Oh well, you just never know what might get your hands on at these swap meets...

Forgot that this neat old Buick Riviera (think it was a first year 1963 version) was out in the parking lot. Very cool...
