Bob Burgess took pics of the cars in the Rod Run and posted on FB.... Low and behold here is the then-bearded one with a passenger: And Laurie(note the thumbs-up) and me(terribly serious looking, which I don't mean to be)

I see license plate paranoia is hitting this site now... If you don't want your plate photographed, then don't take your car out of the garage... Now back to some more pictures... This one is of a second generation Camaro from the mid "70's. There were a few of them at the show. Mom once owned an '81 Z28 and I marveled at how bad the quality control was in that era... This Nova was one of several of this type at the show. Wasn't the usual black or red, so I liked it the best... This is a seldom seen 1956 Ford Customline. Most '56 Fords spotted at shows are the much fancier Crown Victorias. I liked this somewhat plainer, yet cool version. And here we have a 1967 Ford Fairlane 500 XL. Why two pictures? Cause I always have liked these. Before buying my '67 Cougar over 30 years ago, I really wanted to find one of these, and in my favourite code B, Frost Turquoise. Even has the styled steel wheel option I would have liked. A buddy of mine in college owned a '67 500 XL in code T Candyapple Red, and I loved that car... Don't normally take pics of new cars at shows, but will make and exception for this sweet Challenger. These were always the best looking of the "retro" modern muscle cars in my opinion. There was also a large selection of new electric cars on display but who cares. The all electric Mercedes was particularly ugly... 1957 Pontiacs were quite a nice looking car, and MUCH better than the 1956 models which looked kinda homely. Neat to see the car that put America on wheels. A Model T Ford of course. Two speed planetary transmissions are what these cars featured. Lesser known is the fact the steering column also contains a planetary gearset to lessen steering effort. Quite fascinating cars, really. And this was my ride for the day. Of course this is Dad's old '56 Thunderbird that he built out of leftover parts from his previous '55 T-bird project. He had a vision of how he wanted this car to appear, and stuck with it including that controversial colour. If you fancy yourself behind the wheel of this machine, it could be yours... Brian's poor Karmann Ghia has barely been looked at for some time, as Brian loves cruising around in his bus. Rumours are afoot that he has a hankering for a new project, perhaps in the shape of a 914... Hmmm. And of course Don brought the mighty SAAB. Good to see him genuinely happy talking to others about this car that he wanted for so long... And that about sums it up! A great day it was, and the public seemed to agree. Will hit this show next year too!

I see license plate paranoia is hitting this site now... If you don't want your plate photographed, then don't take your car out of the garage... I did so because I was reposting someone else's photos of someone else's car in Clay's case. It was done out of conservative courtesy as I am not a mind reader and wanted to surprise Clay with this photo. In my case I reposted the pic on the Saab Restoration and Preservation Group and as it turns out it has 265 likes from all over the world at this point. Yes, maybe it is a bit paranoid looking, but it is the first time I have done so, primarily because of the pics were not on this site alone. Nice pics Russ. The reflection of the T-Bird is pretty cool in Brian's Bus. Considering their respective histories, I found it quite fitting. Maybe you wanna bring Rebecca on the Rod Run in your car of choice next year too? It is a lot of fun, take it from Laurie, her thumbs-up said it all.
