Yup. My boss Jeff and his wife Christie have another project... One of our customers was related to the owner, and tipped Jeff off about this car. And here it is. A Ghia coupe, believed to be a 1968. This was bought as an unfinished project. The body appears to be completely ready for final paint. Very smooth and straight! Is stripped right down, though. Lots yet to do. Completely solid it is. There was some rust in the past, but the welded repairs appear to be very nicely done. Couldn't find anything to complain about, and that is unlike me.. Car comes with a big engine, but I have not seen it yet. LOTS of spare parts too. Jeff has a lot of work ahead of him for sure. Getting ready to head off to the body shop. Paint was supposed to be applied over the Christmas break. I guess we will find out tomorrow how that went... And what colour will it be? Christie was adamant about the colour, and you will have to wait and see...

An amazing find, I likely don't want to know the price, but I'm sure it's a loss for someone. That's a lot of work done for you, awesome if you were looking to build a beautiful Ghia!

Just tried transferring pics from phone directly to IMGUR, then onto our site. It actually worked! Still hate typing on this stupid tiny keyboard!

I like it. When you said yellow, I wasn't sure if that was the best choice, but it looks great.
It's also moving a lot faster than my Ghia...

Jeff was busy and has installed more items. Those H4s look fantastic! Those intake grills were a bit of a pain to get the seals on, but look good installed. This car's paint was completed over the Christmas break. This was only possible due to the previous prep work which really was final paint ready. This is rarely ever true when buying an unfinished project...

The trim holes were already filled (welded up), and the trim will not be reinstated. Also note the nose emblem is not there either. Colour is not a VW shade. Is actually something from the 1960's GM palette. Very close to my old '67 Cougar Jamaican Yellow, better known by the Mustang version Springtime Yellow. Any way, it suites the car very well and looks fantastic in person. Jeff is still figuring out the details as he goes along. He is unsure of the final wheels to be installed, and is debating if he really likes the fancy seats that came with the car. He will have to buy door panels and carpets, as well as new bumpers or rechroming the originals (extremely expensive now).

new bumpers are not as good as og stuff that's rechromed. you can actually get it wet and not rust.

There are stainless steel bumpers available for Ghias now. I have read some comments on fitment issues, but it sounds like the company manufacturing them have improved their process over time. From what I hear they're not quite as heavy duty as OG Vw, but they're a decent substitute. I have not heard any issues on rusting. I am not aware of any cheapo tinfoil repops for Ghias like you used to get for the Beetles. It's a long post. Realistically the last few pages cover most of what you need to know. www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=168618&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=760
